Advent Carol Service in support of Gloucestershire Arthritis Trust – 6pm on Sunday 26th November
On the Sunday before Advent this year at 6pm we will once again be holding our Advent Carol Service in support of the Gloucestershire Arthritis Trust. For those of you who haven’t ever attended this service, it is best described as a medieval introduction to Advent.
We use the ‘Great O Antiphons’ of Advent – medieval plainsong celebrations of the final days of Advent preparation – alongside Advent hymns and readings to reflect on the theme of Light in Darkness.
The service is candlelit and begins in full darkness as we reflect on our need for God to break into our Darkness, and the Word is given: ‘Let there be light’. Solemn, and dramatic, we explore how God reaches into a dark world and offers us something so much greater.
Do come and experience something a little different from our usual Sunday worship!
