Weddings

To be married in such a beautiful church, with family and friends around you, is a memorable experience; what makes it truly meaningful is that you make your vows in the presence of God. With so many options of venue available nowadays we are always pleased to welcome those couples who understand the true significance of a Christian service.

The Church of England has rules and regulations about who can or cannot be married in any particular church so do contact us as early as possible to discuss this. Many who cannot be married in church choose to have a Wedding Blessing, a very similar service; again, please contact us for further details.

Given the popularity of St Mary’s it is advisable to let us know as soon as possible your preferred date, especially if it is during the summer months. An early decision regarding Choir, Organist, Flowers and Bells is also appreciated – there are a lot of people involved and they will all need to have dates in their diaries a good time in advance.

There are lots of questions we are asked about what is or isn’t permissible: photographs and videos should be discussed with the minister taking the ceremony; bio-degradable confetti is fine as long as it’s outside; suitable CD’s may be used; children are welcome... Just ask.

One tip; avoid choosing the weekend of the Royal International Air Tattoo, unless you and all your guests live within walking distance of the church and don’t mind a bit of noise during the service – then time it so that the Red Arrows fly past as you emerge as a married couple!

So, please contact us via the Parish Office.
