About Us
We usually gather on the first Sunday of the month at 6pm for Sung Evensong in the summer months - May-October. The church does not have electric light and the meadow around the church gets very boggy in the winter months. The storage heaters do precisely that - seem to store heat and not release it! We sometimes have an Advent Gathering when people park further away and walk to the church for Carols by Candlelight. The church is a 'plague church' - and so now sits on its own in a field. When the plague struck (c1350) the villagers moved away from the Ampney brook, which they believed was the source of the illness. So the village of Ampney St Mary does not have a church, and the church of Ampney St Mary does not have a village!
Our 'sister' church is Ampney St Peter in the village of Ampney St Peter.
