This is a special, quiet service of Holy Communion to mark the beginning of Lent.
Ashing or "The imposition of ashes" is part of the service. Ashes are a biblical symbol of repentance, a reminder of our sinfulness and mortality.
During the service, for those that wish, ashes mixed with oil are placed on the forehead in the shape of a cross.
“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

WELCOME!   We have a communion service every Sunday at 9:30 except for the first Sunday when the communion service is at 8:30 - this is a said service using the Book of Common Prayer (traditional language) liturgy which is followed by an all-age "Open Door" service at 9:30 with breakfast, singing, simple worship and laughter.

On the other Sundays the communion service follows the Common Worship (more up to date) liturgy with hymns led by the choir.   On the third Sunday there are Junior Church stories and activities for children during the morning service. 

 When there is a fifth Sunday in a month we join with other congregations in our benefice for a 9:30 communion service (See "What's on" to find out which church is hosting).
