Maundy Thursday is the day when Christians remember the Last Supper, when Jesus celebrated the Passover meal with his disciples before being betrayed and arrested.
During the meal, Jesus took and blessed bread and wine and shared them with his disciples, sayiong this is my body and this is my blood. Christians have shared in this service ever since, daya by day, Sunday by Sunday and on special occasions.
Jesus also gave his disciples a new commandment as he knelt before them and taking the place of a servant washed their feet. He commanded them to love one another just as he had loved them and to humbly serve others.
