St Saviour's, Redbrook

St Saviour's church in Redbrook was built in the 1870s to a design by JP Seddon with a sanctuary window added in 1910 by Kempe and Co Ltd. St. Saviour’s has been on the buildings at risk register since 1984 but extensive ongoing work is bringing it close to coming off the register. It has been adapted to serve as a community hub with continuing worship for festivals and other occasions. The building is open to visitors at weekends, offering a toilet, fresh water, and seating outside overlooking the valley. It is directly on the Offa’s Dyke Path and Wye Valley Walk.

The school next door uses the church daily for lunches, weekly for “Open the Book” school worship and other activities, there is a weekly adult community choir and children’s after-school craft club. We host a monthly family-friendly music night. Wye Valley River Festival and other organisations use the building for workshops and exhibitions. Every autumn we host a long weekend masonry workshop with cathedral apprentice masons and others, learning the skills of lime mortar work. We have an Eco church Bronze Award and are working towards a Silver Award.

Safeguarding

Our Parish is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishop's guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO, Mark Bick (http://www.mid-wyedeanchurches.co.uk/safeguarding/) or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Judith Knight (https://www.gloucester.anglican.org/about-us/safeguarding/). If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
