Friends of Slimbridge Church was established in 2013 to assist with the task of maintaining our Grade 1 Listed Building.
Since its formation the Friends have helped to fund both minor and major projects. This includes maintenance and repairs to the fabric of the church, installing security equipment to protect the building and new sound and lighting systems. Most recently it has given a substantial contribution towards the major repair work undertaken to the South Clerestory Windows and funded the subsequent necessary re-decoration.
The Friends are grateful for the support received not only locally, but importantly from the American ‘Bridger Family Association’. The Bridger Family has strong connections with Slimbridge Church and has generously provided substantial financial support to St John’s via the Friends. Slimbridge was pleased to welcome the Association to the village when they visited in 2014.
Our historic church building receives no funding from the state and a monetary donation is very welcome.
How do I become a Friend of Slimbridge Church?
There is no joining fee, but the Friends welcome regular donations by standing order. There are also opportunities to offer practical help with maintenance and repairs.
