The 3-day long event from 13th-15th of the month witnessed a wide array of colourful floral arrangements, paintings and craft displays after exhibitors were invited to select verses from within the Bible, and interpret their story with flowers or colours. From Noah’s Ark to Joseph’s Coat, from Water to Wine and the Burning Bush to Birds of Paradise, over twenty-five beautiful and creative displays were carefully laid out throughout the church.
Event organiser Linda Walker spoke about the festival and thanked those who took part: “as you look at the arrangements, paintings and crafts, I’m sure you’ll agree that everyone has worked incredibly hard and been very creative and imaginative in the displays they have created”. The success of the event is also thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers who are vital to ensuring the smooth-running of the event each year; Linda remarked “a special thank you goes to everyone who has been involved with administration, stewarding, refreshments, setting up and more.” Thanks were also extended to those who provided music to entertain visitors as well as for all of the prizes donated for the raffle.
The event drew more than 160 people into the Church over the course of the Festival, raised over £750 towards church funds and ended with a Songs of Praise service on Sunday evening. Speaking about the weekend, Rev’d Andrew Smith observed “it really is inspiring to see the amazing skill and creativity on offer within our community and fascinating to view the story of the scriptures through others’ eyes, by way of such magnificent displays. A heartfelt well done and thank you to all those involved in organising and exhibiting.”
