Getting here
Shouldham village has a population of about 500, and lies 7 miles north-east of Downham Market and 10 miles south-east of Kings Lynn. All Saints' Church lies on the outskirts of the village, in an elevated position looking over the village itself - it is a beautiful setting.
All Saints' Church dates from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries but was extensively restored in Victorian times when a new chancel was built. It has a hammer beam roof and some stained glass in the pre-Raphaelite style. The church has an ancient ring of six bells, which are rung regularly for services.
There is a small but loyal congregation, who work hard to support their church in fundraising events and general day to day maintenance.
The village is blessed with a very good church primary school ("St Martin at Shouldham Church of England Church of England Primary Academy") and the church has a good relationship with the school. The schoolchildren come to All Saints to celebrate festivals, like harvest and Easter, and they undertake projects, such as the creation of some Stations of the Cross, which were used in services at Easter 2011.
