St Mary the Virgin

Welcome to St Mary's Church, Beachamwell, We are a very small Norfolk village of some 300 residents and are blessed with a beautiful thatched Saxo-Norman church that is over 1,000 years old. Situated on the west end of the village green the Church is very much the centre of the village and community. Currently the church is undergoing a major restoration after a devastating fire in February 2022 that effectively destroyed everything except the walls and tower, and a few of the artefacts in the church. As a result the church is closed but we do have a service once a month on the first Saturday, either on the village green or in the village hall (subject to weather). We would invite any and all to come to those services should you wish. During the week, Mon - Fri, while work on the church is ongoing, visitors to the site are welcome and should you wish to enter and see the work please contact Peter Berendt, the Churchwarden, who will be happy to provide a short tour and brief.

Our Diocese of Ely’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO [add their details here or use the button to link to a page that shows the info] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor [add their details here or use the button below to link to your own page that shows the info or the diocesan safeguarding page]. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
