Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent.
Lent is a 40-day season (not counting Sundays) which represents Christ’s time of temptation in the wilderness, where he fasted and where Satan tempted him. Lent is a time for Christians to spend time reflecting on Christ’s life, ministry, sacrifice, and resurrection.
At our Ash Wednesday service we say sorry to God for the wrong things we have done and prepare to observe Lent. Those who wish to can be marked with the sign of the cross on their forehead as a visual representation of repentance.

Safeguarding

Welcome to St George's Church, the parish Church for Littleport. We hope you'll find helpful information about our Church here, both our services and how to get to know the community. We look forward to meeting you in person soon.

The parish of Littleport is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Ely’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
