About Us

St John’s was built around 800 years ago. It is a very beautiful building with a special atmosphere, a great place to come to worship and pray. Local families have celebrated weddings and christenings here ever since it was built and this still goes on today.

Our worship at St John’s has a traditional feel and is very welcoming to everyone. We love to see children and we have a special area with toys etc for the young ones.

We really value our link to St John's Church School, and children are welcome and fully included in the life of the church.

It is a delight to hear the peal of bells ringing out over Stanground. A team of ringers meet once a week to practice ‘ringing the changes.’ Bells are sometimes rung on Sundays, and often for weddings too. We always welcome people who would like to learn to ring bells, so do get in touch if you are interested in this ancient skill.
