Welcome to St John the Baptist Somersham. This church is one of the four churches belonging to the Benefice of Somersham, Pidley, Woodhurst and Old Hurst. It is set in the centre of the village of Somersham and is surrounded by a peaceful churchyward.
St John’s is open daily from around 9 am to dusk. There is a toilet in the church vestry which is open when there is a service or public event in the church. There is on-street parking outside church and a small free public car park on the opposite side of the road to the church.
Services are held on every Sunday morning at 10:30am and there is a service of Holy Communion every Wednesday at 9:30am. Both services are followed by coffee & refreshments.
The church is the home of several activities for children including the Little Acorns baby and toddler group which meets on Tuesday mornings, Messy Church on the 2nd Sunday of every month and our Sunday School which meets on the first and 3rd Sunday of the month during the church service. There is an area at the back of the church for children to play which is open whenever the church is.
The church has several features of architectural merit, notably the medieval roof bosses and carved corbels which support the fine timber roof. It is lovely peaceful place for private prayer or reflection. You can be sure of a warm welcome whenever you chose to visit.
