Funerals

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)

We are sorry that you have to make an enquiry about a funeral arrangement but we hope we can support you in whatever way possible. We’ll always be here to help you through one of life’s most difficult times. A Church of England funeral is available to everyone, giving support before, during and after the service, for as long as it’s needed.

Funeral services can take place in the church followed by a burial or cremation or they can take place at the crematorium.

If someone you know and love has recently died, or dies in the next few days, of whatever cause, we hope to be able to offer you either a funeral service in Church or at a crematorium led by a Church of England minister.

The first step is for you to contact the funeral director who will notify the Vicar of your needs. No two Christian funerals are alike, and at 5folds we want to work with you to help you remember your loved one in an appropriate and personal way. This will typically involve a meeting with the Vicar who will lead the funeral service to make arrangements.

Also, if you have previously held a cremation for a loved one and now wish to arrange to bury their ashes in one of our Churchyards, we advise that you begin the process by contacting a local funeral director, who will make all the necessary arrangements for you and liaise with the Church concerned.

Holding important conversations:

This might be a moment when you begin to think about funerals and about death. It could be a time to think about what you would want at a funeral, so do take time to talk about these issues with your own family and friends and if appropriate, make a note of your thoughts and ideas.
