Sung Eucharist

Our weekly Sunday morning Communion service takes the form of a Sung Eucharist. We seek to hold together the best of Anglican tradition with a relaxed and welcoming approach. Many different nationalities are represented among our worshipping community. At present there is no Sunday School, but children's activities/material is provided, to help parents and children together to engage with the Bible and the Church year.

This informal service runs throughout most of the year, but takes a break in August.
We begin, together, for singing and to hear the Bible (often presented in dramatic form) before choosing from a range of activities - quiet reflection, craft, Bible study in English or in Farsi.
We then come back together, to share what we have done and learned, and some weeks we end with eating a simple lunch together.

A friendly group of crafters meets every Tuesday at the Minster between 10am and 4pm.
Bring along something you're working on - or come and learn something new (materials supplied)
This fully inclusive group welcomes people with disabilities and their carers. Support dogs also welcome!
Only £2 per session - tea and coffee provided.

Sunderland Minster Craft and Vintage fairs

Once a month the Minster is filled with stalls selling vintage goods and a wide variety of crafts all made locally. There is jewellery, glass, knitted goods, woodwork, cards, gifts, sweets and loads more. Refreshments are available from the Minster café throughout the fair

TAIZE

Bell Ringing at the Minster

There are 10 bells at Sunderland Minster and a team has been established to ring once a month before the 5pm Service of Choral Evensong, and for weddings as requested. Groups of visiting bell ringers from around the country are also welcome to ring, by arrangement.

Bell Ringing Practice takes place on the first Monday evening of every month. If you are interested in joining the team, or learning to bell-ring, please contact Richard Brown (07867 494688)

Choral Evensong

Choral Evensong, from the Book of Common Prayer, is one of the gems of traditional Anglican worship.
Led by the choir, there will be hymns, a sung Psalm and Anthem, and a short sermon.
