St Paul's Church, Jarrow

Welcome to St. Paul's Page. We are a small congregation meeting on Sundays at 11* and we are open for visitors, pilgrims and school groups from mid-February to mid-December every year. 

Our winter opening hours are: Monday to Saturday 11am to 3 pm and 2-3.30 pm on Sundays

Our Summer opening hours are Monday to Saturday 10.30 am to 3.30 pm and 2-4 pm on Sundays.

You can find a quiet corner, light a candle, say a prayer, join in with the services, explore this fascinating building and find out more about local saint the Venerable Bede, we even have a gift shop with a range of Christian gifts and books + gifts for children, Mothering Sunday, Easter, Christmas and so on.

Throughout the year we are involved in different community events including The Jarrow Festival, Carols by Candlelight, Choral Concerts and The Jarrow Lecture (Bedetide).

You can visit St. Paul's church and gift shop daily. Current opening hours for British Summer Time are:
Monday to Saturday 11 am until 3 pm and again on Sunday afternoon from 2 - 3.30 pm.

If you are following in the footsteps of The Venerable Bede, keen to explore church architecture or returning to St. Paul's for another visit, there are quiet places to reflect, light a candle or pray. You can begin (or end) local pilgrimage route connecting St. Paul's Jarrow to Durham Cathedral: The Way of Learning. And we are adjacent to the original Jarrow Monastery site (maintained by English heritage, moments away from museum and vsitor attraction Jarrow Hall as well as the beautiful walks the River Don.

On Sunday 16th May The Rt Revd Paul Butler, Bishop of Durham and The Rt Red Sarah Clark, Bishop of Jarrow will be joined by writer and broadcaster Sheridan Voysey as they set out on the inaugural pilgrimage from Jarrow to Durham.
