Because there is no current worshiping community at this church the Bishop of Durham has issued a temporary closure order under Canon Law.

The Parish  of Herrington, Penshaw & Shiney Row is in Vacancy there are no services being held at St Aidan's Church until further notice.

St Aidan's Community Trust, which operated from St Aidan's Worship Centre, has had to close.  The Parochial Church Council, as Landlord, has assumed responsibility for the hiring and maintenance of the building. Details regarding the building's reopening will be announced on this page and the new Parish website which is currently under construction.
