About Us
Dear Friends,
Welcome to St John's Church, Greenside and to Church of the Holy Spirit, Crawcrook. We are a friendly, lively Anglican church.
The Parish of Greenside belongs in the Diocese of Durham and is located 9 miles west of Gateshead, in the north east of England. Within our Parish are two churches. St John's in Greenside is a more traditional building and Church of the Holy Spirit in Crawcrook is a more contemporary one. The distance between the two church buildings is only a mile. We worship as one congregation, alternating each week between the two sites.
As a church, we aim to be faithful to the Good News of the Holy Scriptures. We believe in the authority of the Bible as the true revelation of God. It is our experience that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today and seek God's wisdom in using them for the glory of His name. We believe the purpose of our Church is:
'To grow God's Kingdom by knowing Jesus and making Him known'
