The Causeway

The Causeway,

is based around the story of the Lindisfarne Gospels, which are returning to the north east this year.
It builds on the work of our previous project, Passion for the Planet. There will be plenty of audience participation and community members will be involved in backstage work, front of house, stewarding and much more, it will culminate in a fortnight of theatrical performances in August. The show will include drama, song, poetry, dance and more and the output of the workshops and making days will be integrated into the performance. 

We will be looking at the significance of the causeway to the island, the beauty in creativity, the ability of one man to create this amazing work of art and leave a legacy, our own creativity and the legacy we can each make. The importance of sacred texts to people of faith will be explored, not forgetting those faiths where something other than text is central.
