St George's Church, Middleton St George

The Ancient Parish Church of St George is thought to stand on the site of an early Saxon Church. The Norman Church was modified in the fourteenth and nineteenth centuries. The development of Middleton St George in the industrial revolution and beyond have meant it is now some distance from the populace and the building is not served by modern amenities.

This church is used for occasional offices which include weddings, funerals and baptisms. We also hold services to mark special events during the year. Regular Sunday worship is held at St George's Primary Academy, Neasham Road, Middleton St George.

We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Durham’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Judi Trewhitt (07527 855429) or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Beth Miller (07968 034075).
