We fully endorse the Church of England’s Parish Safeguarding Handbook ‘Promoting a Safer Church’ which asserts:

“The care and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults involved in Church activities is the responsibility of the whole Church. Everyone who participates in the life of the Church has a role to play in promoting a Safer Church for all.”

How we handle safeguarding concerns:

We require that everyone who carries out activities on behalf of the church knows and abides by our safeguarding policies and procedures. To ensure we have a proactive approach to safeguarding we provide staff and volunteers with safeguarding training. We work to prevent abuse from occurring, seek to protect those at risk and respond well to those who contact us with safeguarding concerns.

The Church of England safeguarding policy statement is based on five foundations and offers six overarching policy commitments:

• Promoting a safer environment and culture.
• Safely recruiting and supporting all those with any responsibility relatedto children, young people and vulnerable adults within the Church.
• Responding promptly to every safeguarding concern or allegation.
• Caring pastorally for victims/survivors of abuse and other affected persons.
• Caring pastorally for those who are the subject of concerns or allegations of abuse and other affected persons.
• Responding to those that may pose a present risk to others.

How do I report abuse or find support?
