CENTENARY CELEBRATION :BLESSING and RE-DEDICATION OF BELLS
with The Rt Rev’d Frank White, Assistant Bishop, Diocese of Durham, The Patron, Lord Barnard and The Rev’d Canon Eileen Harrop, Priest in Charge. Bells have rung out over Staindrop for hundreds of years as the voice of the church speaking to the
community. six new bells were presented to the church in 1787. In 1925, those bells were recast and augmented from 6 to 8 bells. The old oak beams were replaced with steel and the bells hung in a new iron frame. 100 years ago, in April 1925, the
recast and new bells were blessed by the Bishop of Durham. Today they will be rededicated in a short service followed by a peal attempt.
