On Palm Sunday (13 April) there will be a leisurely one-mile walk from Byers Green to Whitworth Church.

The walk will set off at 2pm from the entrance to Hagg Lane, next to the playground, and make its way to Whitworth where refreshments will be available.

If you’re not able to take part in the walk, then please do go along to Whitworth Church (off Stanner’s Lane DL16 7QX) from 2.30-4pm to enjoy the refreshments on offer. During this time, there will also be a short service to recall Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem which marks the start of Holy Week.

Welcome to the parish church of Whitworth, located next to the grounds of the Whitworth Park Estate on the outskirts of Spennymoor.

Steeped in history, Whitworth Church includes a crypt beneath the floor where members of the local Shafto family were were laid to rest.
