About Us

St John's has been well know since medieval times as it can be seen for miles around situated over 600 feet up on top of the ridge south of Spennymoor.

In our services we mix the ancient with the modern and these vary from 8am Holy Communion using the Book of Common Prayer through to a 'Café' style Church on the 2nd Sunday each month.

Our family service, on the 1st Sunday of each month, is growing and we welcome everyone to come and get involved, and join in the fun! There are arts and crafts and activities throughout the service and these activities are also now being run every week

Service Times

1st Sunday  11am  Family Eucharist

2nd Sunday 8am BCP Eucharist 11am  Café Church.

3rd Sunday  11am - Holy Communion

4th Sunday 11am Parish Service - see noticeboard. At 4pm there is a time of silence in church followed by a simple Celtic Communion starting at 4.30pm.
