St. Cuthbert's Church is a Grade II listed building. There are no longer burials in the churchyard, but there is a new cemetery in Etherley.
St. Cuthbert's is a country parish of linear development stretching from the Four Lane Ends, near Escomb to Windmill and Morley. It covers an area of 10 square miles and is situated three miles west of Bishop Auckland.
The church is one of a group of 4 churches - The Saxon Church, Escomb (for Escomb and Witton Park); St. Cuthbert's Church, Etherley; St. James’ Church, Hamsterley, and St. Philip and St. James' Church, Witton-le-Wear. We work closely with the other members of the group, but we have individual

Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals can be booked by contacting Revd. Gibbs. (Baptisms usually take place during or after the Sunday service).
The church supports a number of charities including Christian Aid and the Children’s Society. Donations are taken for Woodhouse Close foodbank in Bishop Auckland.
We collect batteries, stamps, printer cartridges and soft plastics for recycling as part of our commitment to improving the environment. We currently hold a Eco-church Silver Award.
