Baptisms

Baptism is a very important Christian ceremony. It is a picture of God’s cleansing and forgiveness of our sins and of our entry into Christ’s family, the church. In baptism God declares that he freely offers all the blessings of a new life in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.

However, children still need to accept these gifts personally. So, when children are baptised, the parents and godparents promise to bring them up to understand and make the gifts their own.

In view of the promises made on behalf of the child, the baptism service is also an opportunity for Christian parents and godparents to recommit themselves to following Jesus Christ.
