The Church building has stood since 1838 and in most cases the fabric is still in good condition. The Chancel was built at a later date to commemorate a pit disaster where many lives were lost. This roof has bore the brunt of sever weather conditions and is now in need of repair. 

Thank you to all in South Hetton who have made contributions to the funding of a re-roofing of the chancel. The work should now start in the New Year. The Public notice is on our Church Door.
