St Michael & All Angels

Located in the picturesque East Durham village of Hawthorn, St Michael & All Angels is a welcoming Christian church where people have been worshipping for generations! We love to meet people new to the church and our district.

There are weekly Sunday and Wednesday services, a fortnightly coffee morning, and the church is available for baptisms, funerals and weddings of people with a connection to the parish or area.

Although there is currently no vicar, our Churchwardens Mike Sawyers [email protected]  and Paula Harris [email protected] are able to answer your queries and attend to parish business.

Our Safeguarding officer is Dr Chris Carr: [email protected] / 07-426-461-628. Contact him for any concerns about children, young people or vulnerable adults. Further details under "Safeguarding".

Safeguarding

Our parish of Hawthorn is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We have adopted the National Safeguarding Standards, follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies, and also have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO), Dr Chris Carr. All parish staff and officers are trained in safeguarding, and have completed DBS checks.
If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact PSO Chris Carr: [email protected] / 07-426-461-628 or Diocesan Safeguarding officer Beth Miller: [email protected] / 07-968-634-075.
Our Diocese of Durham’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information, including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO.
If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
