St Andrew's Church has a long association supporting the Seafarers Mission located at the Port of Seaham.
Parishioners continue to donate items of toiletries, sweets, hats, scarves and other useful items to the mission which are distributed to the sailors visiting the port over Christmastide. Many of the sailors won't have seen their families for over 6 months so the mission provides a place of refuge and friendship when in port.
The facilities provided include games room, internet so they are able to keep in touch with loved ones back home, chapel, small library and a small cafe/bar manned by volunteers when ships are in port. Mission is provided by the Chaplin.
St Andrew's church annually support the Seafarers Mission by donating the collection received on Sea Sunday in July to Seaham Mission.
