As part of this rejuvenation, we are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Choir Master to lead a youth choir during Sunday worship services and one mid-week rehearsal day.Responsibilities:Choral Direction:Lead and direct the youth choir during Sunday worship services.Conduct rehearsals for the youth choir, focusing on vocal techniques, harmonies, and musical expression.Select appropriate musical pieces that align with the overall theme of worship services and the vision of St Giles Church.Youth Choir Development:Recruit, train, and develop young singers to participate in the choir.Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages the musical and personal growth of choir members.Collaboration:Work collaboratively with the clergy, musicians, and other staff members to enhance the overall worship experience.Coordinate with the church leadership to align the choir's repertoire with the liturgical calendar and special events.Rehearsal and Performance Planning:Organize and conduct mid-week rehearsals for the youth choir, focusing on preparation for upcoming performances.Coordinate and plan performances for special events, holidays, and other occasions as required.Communication:Maintain open communication with choir members, parents, and the church community.Attend meetings with the clergy and other staff members to discuss the progress of the choir and upcoming events.Qualifications:Proven experience as a Choir Master or similar role.Strong musical background with expertise in choral direction and vocal coaching.Ability to work with youth and foster a positive learning environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Familiarity with traditional and contemporary Christian music.Flexibility to work one mid-week rehearsal day and Sundays for worship services.How to Apply: Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume, a cover letter, and any relevant portfolio or recordings to stgileschurchdurham@live.co.uk.
