About Us
A very warm welcome to the Parish of St Giles, Durham, a Church of England (Anglican) church in the Diocese of Durham.
St. Giles’ has been a place for people to meet and worship for over 900 years. Through our website you can find lots of information about the life of our church, from our regular services and special events, through to guides on how to book a christening/baptism, wedding or funeral, or how to hire one our rooms.
We engage with people in differing contexts, some of which are traditionally associated with church life, others excitingly new, and one or two that might even surprise you.
We work in a collaboration with our sister churches – St Mary’s, Sherburn and St Cuthbert’s, Shadforth.
St. Giles’ is a welcoming place for young and old. If you are a parent, we have a parent and toddler group 'Little Lights' which meets twice a week in the church. We also have a monthy 4forAll service, a friends and family service on the final Sunday of the month at 4pm. If you enjoy music and singing, you can find out about joining our choir. If you are an older person, you can find out about our social activities.
The church also has links with our local primary school, St Hild’s.
There is a place for everyone here! Above all, we are here to share the love of Christ.
