We are pleased to announce that plans are now being put in place to reopen our building for worship. We will have more details when our risk assessment has been approved at diocesan level. Meanwhile, measures are being taken to ensure that the church will be reopened to provide a safe and secure environment for worship. Changes you might notice:A one-way system is being put in place with one entrance and one exit to the main body of church.Pews have been measured and are being marked to ensure social distancing.Service sheets will be disposable. We look forward to welcoming you when we are able to reopen safely. We will let you know when that will be as soon as we can.
After many weeks of rehearsal the first performance of the Cantata took place on the evening of Palm Sunday. The concert was introduced by the Archdeacon of Derby - the Venerable Christopher Cunliffe and we also welcomed a music critic who writes for the 'Church Times' Roderic Dunnett. We were delighted to see them both and it was good to hear that they enjoyed the performance. We all appreciated them making the time to be with us.The article was published in last week's edition of the magazine and is very complimentary. As Mr. Dunnett states " It is not every Parish church that has a setting of the Passion composed for it by its own organist". As a member of the church choir I think I speak for all of us when I say that it was a privilege to be a part of this unique event. Hopefully there will be the opportunity for a further performance at some time in the future. The performance was recorded and a CD should be on sale soon. Please do get in touch if you are interested.
We are delighted to announce that following an approach by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission the PCC has given its consent to a permanent sign indicating that there are war graves in the churchyard. The sign has been attached to the notice board near the main gate.We have three graves and more details can be found on the CWGC website or by contacting Annette Lucas. Each grave represents young lives lost in the pursuit of peace and we hope that the sign will encourage members of the public to seek out the graves and take a moment to reflect on the sacrifice made by the young men.
