After many weeks of rehearsal the first performance of the Cantata took place on the evening of Palm Sunday.
The concert was introduced by the Archdeacon of Derby - the Venerable Christopher Cunliffe and we also welcomed a music critic who writes for the 'Church Times' Roderic Dunnett. We were delighted to see them both and it was good to hear that they enjoyed the performance. We all appreciated them making the time to be with us.
The article was published in last week's edition of the magazine and is very complimentary. As Mr. Dunnett states " It is not every Parish church that has a setting of the Passion composed for it by its own organist". As a member of the church choir I think I speak for all of us when I say that it was a privilege to be a part of this unique event. Hopefully there will be the opportunity for a further performance at some time in the future.
The performance was recorded and a CD should be on sale soon. Please do get in touch if you are interested.
