No one ever promised us that taking up our crosses and following Jesus would be an easy option. Just as members of the early church faced hardships and persecution, living the Christian life today can be truly difficult at times. As Christians, we are not immune from the realities of the broken world we inhabit. Persecution, difficult relationships, sadness, illness and grief are all too often part of our journeys. The difference is that we do not face these challenges alone. Our God is always with us.
