About Us
We are a medium-sized, lively, informal, charismatic evangelical New Wine church in a residential area on the edge of the city centre with many student flats and houses nearby.
Our vision statement is: 'To know Jesus as Lord and to share his love with our local community'.
We have all come to St Barnabas from a variety of different backgrounds and we have a wide age-range in the church so try to be as inclusive and welcoming as possible. We aim to be respectful but informal in our style of worship and like to allow space and time for testimony, for hearing God speak to us and also for teaching of biblical truths.
Children of all ages are welcomed and we have a Sunday Club most Sundays. We have a youth group for those aged 11 to 16 who meet on the first Sunday evening of the month.
Taize services are held every 2nd and 4th Sunday evenings from 6.30 pm. These services are silent, reflective and candlelit, where we come to lay our burdens down, seek the face of God and be refreshed by His spirit.
Messy Church takes place on the first Saturday in October, December, April and July to celebrate Harvest, Christmas, Easter and summertime from 4 - 6 pm. We welcome families with their children to come and join in the fun with lots of crafts, a short celebration and a meal together.
We also have midweek evening house-groups where small groups meet together regularly to look at the bible, discuss with, and learn from each other and socialise. There is a daytime Bible Study Group on Tuesdays from 10.30 am - 12 noon.
For anyone wanting some company, a cuppa and a chat, we have a drop-in group every Wednesday between 2 pm and 4 pm. Board games are also available for those wanting to play.
