On Sunday 8th January we celebrate Epiphany as we focus on the intrepid travellers - the Magi (or Kings) - who sought out the child Jesus. For many Christians this is a great day of celebration. We are doing something different this year at Wirksworth at 6pm when the St Mary’s Singers lead a special service of hymns, carols & readings. They have chosen some wonderful carols so it promises to be a very fine occasion and all are welcome.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Wirksworth: St Mary is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Derby’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO via the Team Office or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor, Hannah Hogg on 01332 388682 / 07540 719447. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
