Following on from our Harvest Festival service at 5:30, we will be having a Pie n' Peas supper at the village hallFor the Harvest Festival, donations are welcome - please bring non-perishable items for the Ashbourne Food Bank (we will check for specific needs closer to the time). This will be followed by a Pie 'n Peas supper in the Village hall - tickets are £5 for adults and free for children under 12. These will be on sale in the Post Office, or leave a message and we will get one to you. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements and we will cater for these. So come along for some pie, a pudding, a chance to catch up and an (optional) quiz or two! Please bring your own drinks and glasses
Our church welcomes live performance and is available for concerts, poetry readings etc during the months of April to October, and if you are interested in booking an event, please contact us via our Get In Touch page. Feedback from a visiting orchestra about a recent event held in the church was very positive "acoustically this is the best church that we have played in, so far, and we have been made very welcome."
The music will include works by well-known composers Bach and Handel as well as a few surprises. Over the years their success led to requests for them to provide music for choirs and so Baroque In The North developed the flexibility that enables them to perform small- and large-scale choral works by composers such as Bach, Handel, Purcell and Vivaldi.Since 2018 they have developed several new strategies in line with their charitable aims of accessibility and knowledge exchange. These include Music in Schools (access to and participation in live music-making for KS2 children) and Come and Play! days for Music Teachers, amateurs, students and young people. Their Baroque & Beyond Summer concert series (aimed at improving access to live music for all) will take place in venues across Derbyshire in 2022.
