Care for the Environment

The Fifth Mark of Mission for the Church of England recognises the Christian calling to demonstrate that the gospel is good news for all God’s creation, calling on Christians, ‘to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew th life of the earth.’http://www.anglicancommunion.org/ministry/mission/fivemarks.cfm

Hope St Peter’s has joined the A Rocha Eco Church scheme, and seeks to demonstrate care for God’s world in all aspects of church life together; though our worship and teaching, through our care for the church building and land, through our community and wider engagement, and through our lifestyle.

A small Eco Church team has taken the lead in managing St Peter’s churchyard to create a haven for people and for wildlife. Working with several local community groups, they work to maintain St Peter’s churchyard as a place of quiet reflection, where our history, the natural environment, and our community links are all celebrated and treasured.

The attached pdf contains more information about the management and wildlife of the churchyard.
