Pamela was nominated for the badge 12 months ago but due to age and infirmity she couldn’t receive the badge at the cathedral in Derby so that is why the Bishop came to Wren Hall today.
It was given because Pam had done much over the years at All Saints, raising much money by bric-a-brac stalls at Spring and Autumn Fayres, organising the big raffles, doing the cleaning, flower and coffee rotas as well as participating in them etc.
Apart from church she was chairman of Alfreton branch of Cancer Research UK for about 38 years and just after she retired the Alfreton branch had raised getting near to a million which was up to a million a year or two after she retired. This was all due to the efforts of the Alfreton committee of CRUK. In 2010 she received an MBE from the Queen for services to CRUK.
