LENT BEGAN ON ASH WEDNESDAY with Communion at St Mary's led by Rev Jim Gray

Lent

We were all really encouraged on Ash Wednesday at the number of folk who came to share Communion this year.  Thank you to Rev Jim who led us in a really meditative Communion service.

Ashes were available for those who wished to receive a sign of the cross on their forehead, but it was very clear this year that this symbolism is no longer important to most of our church members.

Many members take Jesus' words as important that we can shut our doors and pray to God in our own homes without outward show.  Both views are valid and important to us.

Our choir members sang to us during the service - a choral version of "A new commandment I give unto you".

Lent reflections:

For those who use Apps on their phone, there is a CofE downloadable app called "DUST + GLORY" which is a free app with daily prayers, readings and reflections for every day in Lent.  Download it from https://www.churchofengland.org ( Google play or Apple store)
