Astley really enjoyed welcoming visitors to Astley Church and to Astley Castle this summer. It was a bright weekend which always helps to bring in lovely visitors and Astley is a special place, whatever the weather. Around 740 people visited the church which was wonderful. The flower arrangements were beautiful in the church all completed by our church volunteers. The information display theme this time was the commemoration of D-Day 80 and tea light candles were available at the altar steps, for those who wanted to remember loved ones. A special treat was to listen to the band of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Sea Cadets who skillfully played inside the church and also outside Astley village Reading Room. Refreshments including cream teas, cakes and hot drinks were served from the Reading Room and also various stalls available to be enjoyed. All made a fascinating and fun weekend and thank you everyone who visited and volunteered to make this summer open weekend very special. We all look forward to the next open weekend where we can share Astley with everyone once more. You must come..
