Christmas Eve – The real day of preparation and a lovely day for children of all ages.
Within the benefice of Ashow and Stoneleigh, the day opens in Ashow Church at 10 am with the lovely Christingle Service, led by our Lay Reader, Audrey Rowberry.
Whilst it is aimed at children, with the beautiful Christingle symbols that will have been prepared, it is a service of peace and joy, full of participation and singing. Children are encouraged to bring along parents, grand-parents, aunts and uncles, and friends to join their happiness.
In the afternoon the preparations move to Stoneleigh Church where, at 3 pm, there will be a delightful crib service to tell the Christmas story and welcome the coming of Jesus. Organised by the worship team it will be a truly joyful occasion, with lots of singing and story-telling, and once again children are encouraged to bring along friends and family, and to get them to join in all the activities.
There will be two decorated Christmas trees, one inside the church and one outside to welcome you.
At Midnight we can really welcome the birth of Jesus by celebrating Holy Communion together.
The service starts at 11.30 pm in Stoneleigh Church, where the pathway will be lit, and the outside tree illuminated to encourage you inside to join us all in the warmth and splendour of the decorated church.
This beautiful service of welcome to our Lord brings joy to so many hearts, coupled with memories from the past, and there will be carols and readings for all to embrace. The service will be led by Rev. Petrica, and John Morris will lead the music from the organ loft. All are encouraged to attend, but for those not wishing to take communion, there is no obligation to do so, you will still be very welcome.
We wish you all a very happy, healthy, but above all, a peaceful Christmas.
