Baptisms, also known as Christenings, are a joyful time in the life of the church. We welcome all Christening enquiries from those who live in the parish or who have a previous connection to our church. The first thing we ask of any family enquiring about Christening is to attend a church service on Sunday. Christening is the official welcome into the life of the church, and parents and Godparents make promises during the Christening to bring their child to faith in God, so we expect families to attend church at least once to demonstrate they will take these promises seriously. Then we speak to you after the service and fill in forms and book dates together. However, due to the energy bill crisis we are now facing as a church, we are having to take serious measures to conserve as much heat as possible when used, and as such, we can now only offer Christening services at 12:30pm on Sundays, thus making use of the residual heat from Sunday morning service already in the main building. We cannot afford to heat the main church building at any other time during the week, and we would be in breach of our Risk Assessment to be placing water on a child in an unheated building. Please do not take time of work or book any parties until you have spoken to us first, as we will now be unable to offer any other time slots over the Autumn and Winter except 12:30pm on Sunday.
