About Us
St Michael’s Church, Stoke
Known affectionately as Stoke St Michael’s the building has been part of the local landscape for centuries and the people of God have consistently witnessed to the unchanging love of God despite the radical changes in the locality. The area is predominantly working class, with an increasing ethnic and student population. A number of schools, shops and churches of other denominations make the area a vibrant mix of different ages and backgrounds.
There is now a real sense that God is guiding the church in Stoke into a new chapter in its continuing history. We are seeing many people come to faith and others accept the challenges of mature discipleship. The church building dates back to the 14th Century and there are exciting plans to redevelop the worship space. The church centre next door is actively used by the local community and the church for a wide variety of social activities.
Sunday worship is Eucharistic at 8.00am and 11.00am. There is an All Age Service at 9.30am which is a great place to start if you're new to the Christianity or the 'church experience'. The Main Sunday service has a strong choral tradition led by choir and organ. There is also a Wednesday morning Eucharist at 10am, all services are followed by refreshments and fellowship.
St Michael’s is now a growing church and all are welcome to join us on an exciting and transformative faith journey.
