About Us
St Paul’s is on Strines Road about two miles from Marple.
St Paul’s has a fascinating history which has been recorded in a book entitled Where Two or Three Are Gathered Together by Rosemary Taylor. Anglican Services started at Strines (Calico) Print Works in 1854 and the owners of the Works built the church in 1880. The district of Strines became part of All Saints’ Parish in 1934. In November 2011 the church was listed by English Heritage for its rarity and its historical interest.
Newcomers to the white corrugated iron building are invariably surprised by the charm of the timber lined interior, the two-manual pipe organ, and the warm welcome.
We have a variety of styles of worship and 1 service each month which are particularly child friendly. We also have midweek activiites and a range of social events throughout the year.
