In a service on Sunday 30th May, Rev Amanda Pike was licensed by Bishop Mark and installed by The Archdeacon of Macclesfield which means that she is our ne Priest in Charge.
During the service Rev Amanda said how welcome she had been made to feel, and how grateful she and her husband Simon were for all the cards, flowers, cakes, scones, bottles and messages of welcome. She also thanked everyone who had done so much work to get the vicarage ready for her arrival. The couple were most impressed with the state of the garden and Simon was delighted to find a newly planted vegetable plot waiting for him - they have already had some of the rhubarb!
Whilst it wasn’t possible to welcome Rev Amanda with a full church and a party afterwards, there will be a “Meet the Vicar” event as soon as something can be arranged and also assuming that the lifting of restrictions continues as planned.
In the meantime, please wave as you pass the vicarage, introduce ourself is you see The Pikes in the village (but don’t expect them to remember everyone’s name just yet!) and pray for them as Rev Amanda settles into her new role and as she and Simon settle into life in a new village and a welcoming community.
NB: Rev Amanda’s post is part time and her working days will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (and Sundays!)
