Today we come together at Siddington Church to say goodbye to our Vicar of 12 years, Revd Ian Arch. It will be a sad occasion as Ian and his family move on to their new life based in Wales. We are all very grateful for his ministry and service and for the friendship that the whole family has shown us. We pray for them and offer them all good wishes.

St James & St Paul, Marton

Welcome to the parish church of St James and St Paul in Marton, near Macclesfield, in Cheshire.

We are part of the Church of England in the Diocese of Chester, serving the small (but perfectly formed) village of Marton, a few miles north of Congleton. Our church building is (we think) the oldest of its kind still in use in Europe, and we are rather fond of it.

It was founded in 1343, and much of what was built then is still here. We hope that both the building and the worshipping community will be here for another few centuries at least.

We were very sorry to say goodbye recently to our vicar, Revd Ian Arch, who has moved on to a new life in Wales with his family. The Rural Daneside Churches are now in the process of finding and appointing a new vicar and, in the meantime, the work of the church continues.
