Today we celebrate the first fruits of the harvest. Communion will be taken with a freshly-baked loaf of bread which represents the first of the gathered-in grains. It is combined with the Rose Queen and Oak King ceremonially returning the Oak Sword and Oak Sceptre to church as their final official act, although they will visit a few other fetes before the Marton Wakes.
After the service, we will serve a soup and sandwich lunch.

Our annual village fete will take place on the school field at Marton. Here’s hoping for a dry one!
Liz’s Dog Show
We will once again be holding the fun dog show (it’s not cruft’s), so please let everyone know far and wide that it will be happening on the day, many different classes for everyone to have a go at.
Bottle Bola
We are also collecting for the Bottle Bola again.
Cakes and Produce Stall
Our cakes and produce stall will make a return this year so if you have any donations of cakes, jams, preserves, fruit and vegetables, flowers and plants please bring them along to the fete
Cakes for the teas
Our brilliant Teas department are also looking for donations of cakes so please get in touch with them if you would like to donate (If you are bringing cakes on the day please let us know if they are for the tea or the cakes stall)

Any and all donations for the next to new stall would be very gratefully received for the fete.

Marton Wakes Service
