Church clock repaired

News_about_our_building

Our church clock dates from 1865. In 2022 we had the clock face and hands removed for sand-blasting, repainting and re-gilding. This year it was noticed that the hands were slipping forward a few minutes just after the hour, so the spindle must have got worn. The firm of Smith of Derby, who maintain our clock, removed the hands and the spindle in early January for specialist repairs, and have now reinstalled them. They should last for another 160 years!
