Good evening to you and to your family and I hope you are all well. Looking out of the study window here in Daresbury, it’s hard to believe that this is late summer. We’ve lit the fire in the living room over the last two evenings. As this would have been Creamfields weekend it’s perhaps not too surprising!
There are a couple of things to draw to your attention. First, the Standing Committee met last Tuesday. After hearing about the discussions we had been having as a Worship Leaders team, it was agreed to start having Holy Communion services. The first one will be on 6th September at 10.30am.
I will give you details next week as to how we are going to organise things when it comes to the distribution of Communion but I can say at this stage that it will be only of the bread/host which is what we did just before lockdown way back in March. Only the President/Priest (i.e. Gill or myself) will receive the wine, following the official guidance from the Church of England.
I am very keen to ensure that we build on the experience of the last few months in the form of service we use and who leads it. We are very blessed with a very skilled team of worship leaders. Each of us have our own particular style which we have developed over the last few months and I am very keen that we should not lose the benefit of those developments. So, at this stage we plan to alternate between Morning Prayer and Communion, with the next Communion service being on 20th September. We shall be discussing this further at the next PCC which has been rearranged for 29th September.
I am awaiting further guidance in the next few days from the Diocese on how we should conduct the Annual Meetings. These were postponed earlier this year when lock down started. Nevertheless, you might like to put a note in your diaries that they have been arranged for Wednesday 7th October at 7.30pm in Church. Again, more details will follow and will be subject to whatever the guidance says. At this stage, if you want to apply to go on the Church’s Electoral Roll so as to be able to vote at the meetings and stand for the PCC and Deanery Synod, please fill in the application form available from Stuart at [email protected] or to the Parish Office, All Saints Vicarage, Daresbury Lane, Daresbury. WA4 4AE and return it by 22nd September 2020. At this stage a scanned copy with your signature on it will suffice.
